In recent decades, the title of "Great Powers" has remained unchanged. The G7 is the group of countries that are in the top of the world rankings, based on different criteria. Their development, which has reached the post-industrial stage, is difficult to compare with the emerging markets of the BRIC states. But due to their economic development indicators, it is likely that the world podium will be renewed. Russia is the one that has already transformed the G7 into G7 + 1, making its way into the circle of great powers. China is competing with the US on macroeconomic indicators, and Brazil and India have a potential that only needs to be properly exploited in order to achieve competitive results. The current pandemic situation will be a serious impediment to the development of the BRIC states, but being a global problem, in which everyone is affected, there are still chances that by 2040, the BRIC will be a new world power.
