Abstract:
This study analyzes credit risk in the banking sector of the Republic of Moldova, focusing on recent developments and their impact on financial stability. The research highlights the structure of the banking system, the high level of market concentration, and the dynamics of lending activity. Data for 2025 show that total loans reached approximately 104.25 billion lei, driven mainly by consumer and real estate loans. The paper also examines modern risk management tools, such as credit scoring models and the use of credit history data, which improve decision-making and reduce default risk. The results indicate that digitalization and automation play a key role in increasing efficiency and maintaining stability in the banking sector. CZU: 005.34:336.717.061; JEL: G21, G32, E51
