Digital Transformation of Banks in the Republic of Moldova through AI

Abstract

The digital transformation of the banking sector in the Republic of Moldova is a strategic priority in the context of globalization and technological development. Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a key role in optimizing operational processes, enhancing the customer experience, and strengthening risk management systems. The main objective of this research is to analyze the impact of AI-based technologies on the digital transformation of banks in the Republic of Moldova and to identify the main benefits and challenges resulting from their implementation. The research methodology includes literature review, comparative analysis, and interpretation of relevant statistical data. The results highlight increased operational efficiency, the automation of banking services, improvements in fraud detection, and the personalization of financial products. At the same time, challenges such as cybersecurity risks, regulatory compliance, and implementation costs remain significant. The study indicates that the integration of AI technologies contributes substantially to the competitiveness and sustainability of the banking sector in the Republic of Moldova.
