Abstract:
The magnitude of the power of nation-states is characterized by their transnational companies and the notorious personalities who have together consolidated the state’s position in the world. Large companies, especially transnational ones, have reached their current position through innovation. When you enter a market, there are many competitors, but when you bring something new — a new innovation, regardless of the field — it creates a new product and a new market. If the product genuinely solves existing problems, that market will explode. And because you created the market, you enjoy the advantage as the founder of the idea. Of course, competitors will appear quickly, but if you patent the idea, and since you are already ahead by some time and hold the advantage as the owner of the innovation, you will enjoy a temporary monopoly. People who have brought something innovative have reached the highest levels of success. Companies that have created a new market (the market for their own product) have become influential companies. Countries that have invested heavily in education, have attracted and retained intellectual talent that generated innovations, have truly experienced development and economic growth. The Industrial Revolutions constitute one of the deepest transformations in human history, marking the shift from predominantly agrarian and craft-based economies to systems founded on mechanized, digitized, and — today — humancentric and sustainable production. From the First Industrial Revolution (circa 1780), which introduced mechanization and steam power, through to Industry 5.0 (2020 onwards), defined by human–machine collaboration, sustainability, and resilience, these processes have driven exponential economic growth, large-scale urbanization, profound demographic shifts, and major redistributions of power between nation-states.
