Abstract:
This paper analyzes the legislative and institutional mechanisms aimed at promoting consumer education in accordance with European norms and standards, with a particular focus on the process of legislative harmonization in the Republic of Moldova. In the context of the increasing complexity of the market, digitalization, and the expansion of cross-border commercial relations, consumer education has become an essential component of modern consumer protection systems. The study examines the normative framework governing consumer rights, in particular the right to information, transparency obligations, and protection mechanisms against unfair commercial practices, through a comparative analysis of national legislation and the relevant legal instruments of the European Union. Particular attention is paid to the role of the competent institutions in market supervision, ensuring compliance with consumer rights, and implementing public policies for information and education. At the same time, the paper highlights the impact of the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union on the alignment of the domestic normative framework with the European acquis, as well as the recent legislative developments in the field of consumer protection.
