The Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the Context of the Modernization of National Law through the Lens of EU Standards

Abstract

The inclusion of persons with disabilities is taking place progressively in the current era, observing the valorization of their potential in the social environment. International policies, those of the European Union, tend to promote the guarantee of the rights of persons with disabilities and support inclusion initiatives, through strategies, conventions and normative acts in the field. Society is becoming much more open and compassionate towards the needs of these persons, trying to contribute. However, both internationally and nationally, there are still gaps in the strategies applied. Persons are still marginalized and do not have equal opportunities. The research analyzed the number of these persons and the opportunities they benefit from and those that need to be further processed, based on current statistics produced by national and international institutions.
