This study analyzes the impact of average wages and labor productivity on the competitiveness of Moldova’s exports during the period 2010-2024. To this end, the objective of the research is to identify the relationship between these microeconomic factors and the evolution of Moldovan exports, while also considering the influence of the
exchange rate as an external factor. Data were collected primarily from international statistical sources, such as the World Bank, and from national sources, namely the National Bureau of Statistics of Moldova and the National Bank of Moldova. The research methodology is based on the construction of fixed-base indices (2010=100), which allowed for comparative presentation of variables with different scales within the analyzed indicators. The results show that wages in Moldova have grown much faster than labor productivity, which could weaken the competitive position of exports in international markets. At the same time, exports have shown sustained growth, particularly after 2020. However, although wages have risen significantly, exports have continued to grow, suggesting that factors such as product quality and market diversification have become increasingly important. In conclusion, maintaining export competitiveness requires a balance between wage growth and productivity growth, supported by a stable exchange rate.
