The circular economy represents an essential model for sustainable development, aiming to reduce waste and ensure the efficient use of resources. In the Republic of Moldova, the transition toward a circular economy is still at an early stage, marked by multiple economic and institutional challenges. The purpose of this research is to analyze the level of implementation of circular economy principles, as well as to identify the main challenges and opportunities associated with this process. The study is based on the analysis of statistical data provided by the National Bureau of
Statistics of the Republic of Moldova, along with the examination of national and international policy documents. The research methods include comparative analysis, information synthesis, and statistical evaluation. The results highlight a low level of waste recycling, limited infrastructure, and insufficient involvement of economic agents, while also identifying important opportunities such as alignment with European Union policies, the development of green businesses, and increased environmental responsibility. In conclusion, the transition to a circular economy requires coordinated efforts from public authorities and the private sector. CZU: 338.1:502.131.1(478); JEL Q53, Q56, Q58 |
