Abstract:
The role of women in the judicial system of the European Union is examined from the perspective of gender equality and their influence on decisions and policies. Although EU law promotes the elimination of gender disparities, structural challenges, such as stereotypes and cultural barriers, persist. The study highlights the progression of women’s rights in European justice, explores their impact on the decision-making process and identifies obstacles, such as the balance between professional and personal life. The EU legal framework, including directives and the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice, has contributed to advancements, yet some rulings have unintentionally reinforced traditional gender roles. The analysis reveals a mixed landscape: legislative progress and the persistence of inequalities. Promoting equal participation of women in EU judicial systems requires an integrated approach that combines legislative measures with cultural development.
