Abstract:
The quality of financial information plays a decisive role in sound economic decision-making. The adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the Republic of Moldova, mandatory for public interest entities since 2011, has brought significant changes to financial reporting practices. This paper aims to analyze the impact of IFRS application on the quality of financial information in the Republic of Moldova, focusing on comparability, transparency, and reliability of financial statements. The research methodology includes a qualitative analysis of the regulatory framework, a review of specialized literature, and an examination of the practical experience of entities applying IFRS. The results indicate that IFRS application has substantially improved the quality of financial information, contributing to increased investor confidence and better access to international capital markets, while also revealing persistent challenges related to the complexity of standards and the costs of implementation.
