The Theory of Constraints is a methodology for identifying the most important limiting factor that stands in the way of achieving a goal and then systematically improving that constraint until it is no longer the limiting factor. In manufacturing, the constraint is often referred to as a bottleneck. Basically, constraint theory is a management philosophy designed to help organizations achieve their goals. Theory of Constraints is a suite of management concepts developed by Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt in his reference book "The Goal". He helps managers to decide: 1. What to change 2. What to get after the change 3. How to cause and how to drive change Despite its name, Constraint Theory is not, in fact, purely theoretical, but rather helps in finding practical and effective solutions to real and complex business problems. The purpose of the study is to demonstrate that the theory of constraints can be put into practice to generate spectacular results for the firm. By analyzing both the theoretical and the practical implementation of the theory we will deduce its benefits for today's enterprises. JEL: M1; M11en_US
