Project team management is becoming more challenging due to rapid changes in technology, new work models, and limited resources. This paper explores the main difficulties faced by project managers. Three key areas of challenge are identified: team collaboration, remote and hybrid work, and resource limitations. Internal factors like poor communication, unclear roles, and emotional stress can affect team performance, while external changes require quick adaptation. The paper highlights the importance of emotional intelligence, trust, and flexible leadership. It draws on models such as Maxwell’s teamwork principles and Goleman’s emotional intelligence framework to suggest ways to improve collaboration. Practical recommendations include: setting up clear communication strategies, defining team roles (e.g. using the RACI matrix), encouraging continuous learning, supporting team well-being, and using flexible project methods adapted to the team’s context. In conclusion, successful project teams need not only good tools and digital skills, but also a strong team culture based on trust, adaptability, and open communication.
