Motivating people within an organisation is a key aspect of business success. The motivation process consists of identifying and satisfying needs, setting goals and achieving them. This paper presents motivational theories such as those of Maslow, Herzberg, McGregor, McClelland, Vroom and Adams as essential tools for understanding and managing employee motivation. However, different generations are motivated by different elements. Each generation, from Silent to Alpha, can be characterised by their motivations and values in the workplace. From setting career goals to seeking meaning and recognition, each generation has unique needs and expectations. Motivational techniques tailored to all of these groups include recognising effort, celebrating team successes, sharing professional development and promoting workplace flexibility. Creating a positive and healthy work environment means understanding and adapting motivational practices to the needs and characteristics of each generation. These practices can help boost employee morale, strengthen the team and improve overall organisational performance. CZU: 005.583.1:005.95; JEL: J01, J53, J82en_US
