Abstract: Services are one of the most modern sectors of any national economy. Services influence the development of other sectors. If we refer to the American economy, we can say that at the beginning of the twentieth century, 30% of employees were in the service sector, in the middle of the century the level of the indicator was 50% and in the 1990s the share increased to 75%, reaching 76 % in 2003. For the less economically developed countries, the development trend of the services sector with large potential reserves compared to the representative countries is obvious. The purpose of the research is to demonstrate the role of the services sector in the country's economy. The following research methods were used in this paper: monograph, statistics, analysis, comparison, demonstration. JEL: M2, O1, O2, O120.
