Optimistic expectations were limited to the impetus for trade between Moldova and the EU, which will result in increased investment, jobs, wages and, finally, economic growth. Certain negative effects of trade liberalization could affect some less competitive branches of the agro-industrial sector, but which were to be offset by the benefits of other branches, the migration of factors from non-competitive to competitive sectors, and rather generous transition periods. up to 10 years, to allow domestic producers to adapt. At the same time, pessimistic expectations were limited to losses for domestic producers as a result of the rapid growth of the domestic market with products imported from the EU, the loss of the CIS market, the devaluation of the national currency and the economic downturn.
