dc.description.abstractThe paper aims, for 2008-2018, a quantitative analysis of corruption, a phenomenon that affects both the state and the public sector, developed economies, frontier or emerging economies. We considered, as geographical area, the economies inside the European Union, with their systematization on Eastern and Western. The defining phenomenon process was followed by the presentation of certain elements used inside the methodology used the corruption index determination. The research results refer both to the characterization of the European Union economies through the corruption phenomenon and also, through two of its consequences: public trust in politicians and diversion of the public funds.
