The wine industry is a branch of the economy in which the Republic of Moldova has a comparative advantage and it is one of the most important export directions. In recent years, because of the embargo imposed by Russia, this industry has suffered huge losses. In order to maximize the export potential of the wine products, the Republic of Moldova needs to diversify the export markets. The Asian market, and China in particular, can become one of the most important destinations of Moldova's wine products. In 2016 China was the fourth largest importer of wine products, and by 2020 it will become the third. In 2020, China could account for 72% of world wine imports. JEL CLASSIFICATION: F1en_US
