This article examines the evolving landscape of consumer credit in the Republic of Moldova, particularly within the context of overcoming economic crises, notably the significant banking fraud of 2014. The analysis then delves into the specific trends observed in Moldova, tracing the fluctuations in consumer credit volumes from 2014 to 2024. This period is characterized by both challenges and adjustments, as the nation navigated the aftermath of the banking scandal and subsequent economic instability. The study investigates how these events impacted consumer borrowing behaviors, the lending practices of financial institutions, and the overall value of consumer credit. Furthermore, it explores the recovery and adaptation strategies implemented by the Moldovan financial sector, highlighting the factors that have influenced the recent trajectory of consumer credit growth. By analyzing these trends, the article provides insights into the resilience of the Moldovan consumer credit market and its sensitivity to macroeconomic shocks and regulatory changes.
