Labor force migration from the Republic of Moldova

Abstract

In today’s globalized world, labour migration is an increasingly important policy issue. Economic hardship and geopolitical crises leading to the lack of decent work are resulting in growing and diverse migratory movements. Labour migration has an important impact on the social and economic life of Moldova. It is, therefore, very important to measure it, so as to offer policy makers useful information to develop evidence-based policies. Every year lived in migration produces in the migrant's consciousness a change of intentions from temporary to permanent migration, which influences the structure and volume of expenditure in the destination country, reducing home transfers. The money sent is spent forcoverage of current consumption expenditure and only 4% for production, financial investment and agricultural equipment.
