Abstract: Languages can build bridges between people, giving them access to other countries and cultures and enabling them to understand each other better. Knowledge of foreign languages plays a vital role in increasing employability and mobility. Multilingualism also improves the competitiveness of the EU economy. Due to the lack of language skills, companies lose international contracts and the mobility of skills and talents is hampered. In order to develop the skills required in the labor market, the European Commission cooperates with stakeholders in education and entrepreneurship.
