Abstract: | Sustainable development is a concept that is of increasing interest to the scientific and business community. With a deeper awareness of the consequences and impact that businesses have on the environment, there is a need to make changes in the way organizations operate in order to minimize the consumption of natural resources and waste disposed in the environment. Corporate social responsibility is another area of sustainable development on which organizations should focus. The active involvement of enterprises in solving social problems becomes a mandatory moral requirement. The third dimension of sustainability is the economic component of a company's performance. The aim of this paper is to outline the movement of sustainable development through the three basic aspects: economic, social and environmental and to suggest ways to implement sustainability in the quality management system of an organization.
