Abstract:
The purpose of the paper is a quantitative analisis of the public sector’s size, through a dual approach: budgetary revenues and, respectively, public expenditure. Regarding this latest budgetary aggregate, was interesting to follow the level of efficiency or better said, inefficiency in public money spending. The economic area analyzed was that of the European Union, grouped, respectively, on the East and West zone, and the time horizon envisaged was 2008-2017. The research’s results allow the evolutionary characterization of the public sector dimension in the analyzed economies and their appreciation in terms of efficiency in the spending of public resources.
