Abstract:
Since the early 70-ies, governments of many Western countries have taken active measures to encourage the departure of immigrants to their homeland. Material compensation for returned workers, professional retraining of departing immigrants, providing of economic assistance to the countries of emigration are traditional measures of stimulating remigration. At the same time, most incentive return migration programs have not reached their goals. These problems are relevant for Moldova. In modern conditions it is necessary to add new approaches, which are going to be identified looking to an analysis of the factors determining return migration, as well as the adaptive behavior of labor migrants. This will adjust the immigration policy and maintain the quantity and quality of labor potential. JEL: F22.
