Abstract:
In an economic context marked by uneven development between the regions of Romania, road infrastructure plays an essential role in stimulating economic growth and reducing territorial disparities. This study analyzes the impact of road infrastructure on regional development, making a comparison between Moldova and Transylvania. The research aims to achieve the following objectives: O1 – assessing how investments in road infrastructure influence economic growth and investment attractiveness of regions, O2 – identifying the main regional disparities in terms of quality, density and connectivity of road networks, and O3 – analyzing the critical factors that determine the efficiency of infrastructure investments. The results of the study show that Transylvania benefits from a more developed road network, which contributes to superior economic performance compared to Moldova. On the other hand, the lack of strategic investments in Moldova’s infrastructure limits business development and access to markets. CZU: [338.49:625]:332.146.2(478+498); JEL: M40
