Abstract:
The concept of guardianship and trusteeship for minors in the civil law of the Republic of Moldova is currently
undergoing various challenges and transformations. Its alignment with European Union regulations introduces new
dimensions and responsibilities for the Moldovan legal system. The aim of the research is to make a comparative analysis between the guardianship measures for minors in the Republic of Moldova and in EU countries, highlighting how the Moldovan legal system manages and regulates guardianship and curatorship according to EU and national standards. Research methods range from questionnaires to surveys, investigating the evolution of guardianship and curatorship in contemporary society. The responsibility for the protection of minors lies with the parents or their substitutes, and in some cases, according to legal provisions, with the guardianship authority or other competent bodies. Guardianship and trusteeship are essential forms of protection designed to ensure the normal upbringing, care, education and development of children left without parental care. It is important to recognise that children are more vulnerable than adults to life's difficulties, and this vulnerability requires special protection and attention from society and the authorities.
