Abstract:
The referential framework of the given study presents initiatives for the unification of European countries from ancient times to the present, along with voices of opposition fighters and Holocaust survivors, diplomats, economists, negotiators, political and cultural elites both from universal and national space, that supported the idea of European integration. Many of them made efforts to end the horrors caused by two world wars and to promote peace and solidarity. The promoters of the European Union contributed to the creation of systems that brought economic stability; they campaigned for the fundamental values of the European Union: freedom and equality, respect for human rights and the rule of law.
