Abstract:
This paper compares various anomalies of updating transaction in distributed databases for online business applications, and examines the access constraints needed to maintain consistent data in terms of concurrent access, as well as some methods to ensure data integrity and security, especially the appearance of Phantom or Dead-lock phenomena. The paper also presents the result of an experiment to identify the occurrence of these undesirable phenomena. JEL: C80.
