Abstract:
The effort to conceptualize financial illiteracy, identified as a socio-educational problem of the postmodern society, requires a specialized multisectoral mobilization in order to prevent and combat this phenomenon. The social and personal effects, analysed a priori or procedurally, reveal a series of characteristic transformations, on the one hand at the individual level and on the other hand at the social level. These are evident in the structure of the personality model, during the educational process, in the personal socio-professional integration and the socio-individual progress. This article aims to investigate the problem of financial illiteracy in the Republic of Moldova based on statistical data, global analyses, highlighting its causes at the micro and macro social level, as well as revealing some practical implications in the field of financial counselling. In order to achieve this assertion, a series of data regarding elements of education, in particular of the financial one, reported worldwide, realised by different international scientific organizations have been used.
