Abstract:
In 2015 humanity embarked to implement the Agenda 2030. The Sustainable Development Goals – with the “no one left behind” – became the main interface trying to achieve better and safer life for all people, irrespective specific conditions in every country. Achieving the SDG targets means the highest level of interaction of all national and international political and decision-making actors of all representatives of national statistical systems and private and business partners. Are we and our systems ready to face the challenges? Is there any country meeting all the requirements for a modern statistical system? Are the national statistical systems sufficiently integrative and open, innovative and methodologically sound to produce all SDG indicators? Actually, the analysis of national statistical systems through the perspective of these the questions represents the work on for the next 10-15 years to reach the utmost integrated, developed and modern societies, because the changes sought are going to be accompanied by chain transformations at all levels – social, economic, demographic and environment. The transformations will lead, in their turn, beyond the expected and planned results, to changing roles, responsibilities and obligations of all actors and players. Are we all ready for that?
