Abstract:
Europe needs to ensure secure, sustainable, affordable and competitive energy for all its citizens and businesses. The Energy Union - based on five mutually supportive dimensions - energy security, solidarity and trust; the internal energy market; energy efficiency as a contribution to the moderation of energy demand; decarbonisation of the economy; and research, innovation and competitiveness - is intended to address these challenges. Due to high oil prices and also to the decrease incostant technological progress, renewable resources have become more competitive and have developed to a large extent in the last two decades. Financial support given to renewable resources was provided through green certificates and/or preferential tariffs borne directly by consumers. JEL CLASSIFICATION: E21, K32, P48
