Abstract:
The current issue is unquestionable because, in the conditions of increased international competition, political and economic instability, the aggravation of the confrontation between large open economies to expand the markets to the detriment of competitors, namely the competitiveness becomes an important factor in ensuring the efficient functioning and sustainable development of economic agents, as well as the national economy. The main objectives of the research in this article are analysis of the dynamics of the competitiveness of the economy of the Republic of Moldova, the estimation of the correlation between the competitiveness of the national economy, the increase of the Gross Domestic Product per capita and the economic freedom through the comparative analysis of the dynamics of the mentioned indicators. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, the author used empirical research methods: observation, comparison, measurement. In order to estimate the correlation between competitiveness and economic freedom, the functional analysis method was applied. The author found that there is a close link between the Global Competitiveness Index and GDP per capita. JEL: O100, P520, C290
