dc.description.abstract In a society of knowledge which tends toward globalization, to communicate and to think not only in native language, offers many opportunities. From the pedagogical perspective, formation and development of communicative skills in a foreign language becomes a strategic goal currently supported at European policy level through various regulations. These skills are required for both, the socio-vocational integration of future specialists and their application/integration in other formal, informal, cultural, intercultural contexts. At the most difficult stage in learning a foreign language, which coincides with the elementary level A1, A2 of CEFRL, the main role is the responsibility of the teacher of foreign language which aims to establish and develop communicative power through various methods and procedures, techniques and modern means of teaching. In this respect, we decided to approach two fundamental, conversation methods of teaching, where the activity of the oral communication prevails: discussion/conversation/debates/conversation and formal discussion, that directly contribute to the development of communication skills. These effective verbal methods have been available in education since the Socrates’ time, due to the fact that verbal expression was the dominant cultural vector for centuries.
